Significant Internet Outage Impacts Numerous Sites and Applications
A widespread online outage has impacted many sites and applications worldwide, and users noting problems connecting to the web after problems at the cloud computing system.
The affected apps comprise Snapchat, the gaming platform Roblox, Signal, and the language learning app Duolingo, along with multiple Amazon-operated platforms such as its primary shopping website and the Ring device manufacturer.
Across the United Kingdom, Lloyds bank was disrupted as well as its subsidiaries the bank Halifax and Bank of Scotland, and also reports of problems accessing the HMRC online portal on Monday morning. Furthermore across the UK, several Ring customers used networks to state their doorbells were malfunctioning.
Just within Britain, reports of problems on specific platforms ran into the thousands for each platform.
The company stated that the outage originated in the Atlantic coast of the United States at the cloud division, a section that offers crucial web infrastructure for numerous firms, who lease capacity on Amazon servers. The cloud platform is the biggest global cloud computing platform.

The widespread consequence was seen to hit apps around the world, and the outage tracking website showing problems with the same sites in different parts of the world.
The monitoring service Thousand Eyes, a service that reports on online failures, additionally noted a surge in issues on Monday morning, with many of them located in Virginia, the site of the eastern US data center where the company stated the issues began.
