One-time National Football League Player Antonio Brown Files Not Guilty Plea in Murder Attempt Case

Ex- NFL star Antonio Brown is traveling to Miami to address an murder attempt charge connected with a gunfire that occurred in May, as his counsel submitting a not guilty plea on his behalf.

Jail documents in Essex, New Jersey, indicate that Brown was freed on Tuesday early for his relocation to Florida. Brown, a highly popular athletes in the NFL, had waived extradition to Florida from New Jersey, in which he was detained after being taken into custody in Dubai.

Brown’s counsel, Mark Eiglarsh, said in an communication that he has earlier submitted a formal not guilty declaration to the murder attempt accusation. Brown could be in a Miami courtroom as soon as Wednesday early for a bail proceeding, Eiglarsh said.

Based on his detention document, Brown is accused of taking a handgun from a security guard after a celebrity boxing event in May and firing two shots at a man he had fought with before. The alleged individual, Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu, told investigators that a bullet touched his throat.

Eiglarsh asserted that Brown was merely defending himself from Nantambu.

“The actions he was obliged to take were purely in self-protection against the claimed victim’s violent behavior. Brown was assaulted that night and behaved within his rightful right to protect himself,” Eiglarsh said.

Brown was not promptly arrested because at first officers did not consider Nantambu as a target. It not until subsequently in May that Nantambu delivered a full testimony about the incident to officers and identified Brown as the gunman, the report says.

Based on his social media content, Brown had been residing in Dubai for several months. In a post after the confrontation, Brown said he was protecting himself because he was “jumped by multiple individuals who tried to rob my possessions and cause bodily injury to me.”

A level two attempted murder accusation in Florida carries a maximum 15-year jail penalty and up to a ten thousand dollar penalty in the instance of a conviction.

Brown has encountered several legal issues over the years. He earlier had been accused of assault of a delivery employee, various domestic violence charges, inability to pay parental support and additional incidents.

Throughout a recent contest with Tampa Bay against the New York Jets, Brown removed his uniform, protective gear and gloves and ran off the field, causing his termination by the franchise and virtually ending his professional journey.

Brown, who had a dozen years in the National Football League, was an elite wide receiver who devoted the bulk of his time with the Steelers. For his time, Brown had nine hundred twenty-eight receptions for over twelve thousand two hundred ninety-one distance, the 28th most of history. He was a 7-time prestigious selection.
